The Unprescribed nonprofit is raising money to address veteran suicide through engaging conversation in communities across the country. UNPRESCRIBED is a self-funded, self-produced documentary that offers a practical solution for treating trauma and reducing Veteran suicide. Combined with expert panels, UNPRESCRIBED provides a conversation starter for engaging audiences and putting minds at ease regarding plant-based medicine.
We are seeking support in the areas of: Community Outreach, Suicide Prevention, and Operational Support.
UNPRESCRIBED The Film
UNPRESCRIBED conveys the stories of Veterans overcoming trauma through plant medicine.
Filming started in 2018 at the height of the opioid crisis when Veterans were committing suicide at the rate of 22 per day. Today that number is closer to 17, which is still too many. While we're doing better with drug management, many Veterans are still prescribed a myriad of drugs that can be replaced by all-natural alternatives. The VA is even considering psilocybin for the treatment of PTSD. While pot has become socially acceptable, with 40 out of 50 states having a medical program, it still remains illegal at the federal level.
WHO We Are?
The Unprescribed inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded by Veterans and health professionals to provide suicide awareness through the documentary film, UNPRESCRIBED. We are comprised of health professionals, Veterans and subject matter experts with a shared vision of saving lives through engaging media and community involvement.
The statistic of 22 suicides per day is horrific. But there is already a proven treatment for reducing this vicious cycle. Your support can help us take a unique approach to combating Veteran suicide. The Unprescribed solution is to engage with people and talk about what is happening. Not just Veterans, but anyone who's experienced trauma including caregivers and family members. As documented in the film UNPRESCRIBED, the impact of a Veteran's mental health causes a ripple effect on everyone around them.
